The De plantatione arborum is a treatise on practical arboriculture with a particular focus on grafting, whose aim is to instruct brothers living in a community in the knowledge of cultivating species of trees, including fruit trees and shrubs, which grow in the area corresponding to the entirety of present-day northern Germany. While distinct from the equally named treatise by Geoffrey of Franconia, it is probably almost contemporary with it and draws on Geoffrey for material in its last chapters in the version which is provided here, translated for the first time into French. The translation is accompanied by an introduction of the work and select commentaries on the realia and techniques mentioned in the treatise.
